Sprint’s Overdrive 3G/4G Launched at 2010 CES

Sprint’s Overdrive 3G/4G
White Box Design was instrumental in designing Sprint’s latest broadband/WiFi solution the Overdrive 3G/4G Mobile Hotspot launched today at the Consumer Electronic Show.

Overdrive is the first 4G mobile hotspot proven to be 10x faster than a 3G network. It can link up to five Wi-Fi devices simultaneously and it’s also the first dual-mode device of its kind, allowing it to access both 4G or 3G networks.

Starting with exploration, testing and validation of use scenarios the White Box Design team focused on a device that looks simple and would be simple to operate and setup. This resulted in a device with a one button operation and an LCD displaying status on critical functions like battery level, signal strength, data usage, etc. Form exploration followed with the goal to express a multi directional product that is memorable and pocket friendly. The simple & unique visual design language was then applied in developing the graphic user interface (GUI) design. Providing a virtual interface that matched the physical interface.Sprint’s Overdrive 3G/4G Now for the true test in design validation “The consumer feedback” Stay tuned!
