We worked with Bombardier to design for 21st century rail travel on the London Underground. The design of ‘the Tube’ vehicles for the London Victoria Line and the Sub Surface Line involved rigorous compliance against a framework of legislative requirements, British Standards and European Norms.
Human Factors processes were engaged throughout the design cycle and were instrumental in the design of both the passenger and operator environments, ensuring that the vehicles were fit not only the current population’s operational requirements, but for the vehicles’ 40 year lifespan.
The new vehicles are one of London Underground’s first new trains for a decade, replacing the current 1967 stock in time for the 2012 Summer Olympics.
